Watermelon Smoothie

The perfect fix to quench your thirst on a hot day. And definitely a healthier choice than your regular fruit juice.


Bonus point, it takes less than 5 minutes to make this refreshing drink.

Ingredients:

  • 200mL - 1 glass of fresh coconut water

  • 200-300g of watermelon flesh, cut into cubes (remove the seeds) - frozen for 3 hours or overnight

  • 1/2 tablespoon of lime or lemon zest

  • A few leaves of fresh mint (for presentation)



Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into your blender

  2. Blend for less than 1 minute.

  3. Pour into 1 or 2 glasses. Add 1-2 leaves of fresh mint for decoration. And it's ready!

You will get a big glass or 2 regular glasses out of this recipe :)


Tip for texture: The less you blend the smoothie, the thicker it will be. The more you blend it, the more it will have a juice like consistency. So you can adapt according to your preferences.


Nutrition notes:

  • This is an excellent drink for everyone: kids, adults, elderly and people with chronic diseases.

  • The combination of watermelon and coconut water makes it the perfect post-workout drink to rehydrate.

  • This drink may help in reducing the risks of muscle cramping after you've exercised.

  • This isn't enough to replace your breakfast. But you can add it to your regular toasts so as to increase your vitamin and fibre intake. Coconut water is packed with so many nutrients.
